Option 3 - Canadian Rocky Mountain Hot Springing

Haven't done a lot of research or mapping for this one, but the jist is: hot springs, relaxing, camping.  There are many hot springs along the rockies, and we would come up with a plan to visit some of them.  Maybe a mixture of developed and non developed.  I'm sure there's all kinds of amazing things to see out there!

Option 2 - Central Idaho Extravaganza

So Mark introduced me to a beautiful part of Idaho a couple of summers ago.  The circumstances weren't the best as work was involved, but the location is stunning.  Challis now has a first class skatepark - and I want to get back there.

I'm imagining camping, hiking, sitting by a fire, and relaxing.  It would maybe start in Challis, camped next to the natural hot springs.  Soaking and enjoying each other's company.   We have a friend there that could get us hooked up for a river trip on the Salmon River.  Then, head south to King Mountain - home to world class hang-gliding.  For a mere 9 Ben Franklins you'll be a fully certified hang-glider pilot.  For 2 Bennies, you'll get a couple days of training and practice on the bunny hill.

From here, we could check out Craters of the Moon Nat. Monument, Atomic City, the first place to get nucular power, and lots of other great spots.

First Option - Sailing in Desolation Sound BC

OK, so Kim and I are pretty confident with our sailing abilities now, and I think this would be super cool.  As you know, BC has an amazing marine environment with endless shorelines.  Why Desolation Sound?  As the cold water flows around Vancouver Island with the daily tides, the top few cm's of water get heated.  The water the flows around the north meet the water that flows around the south right at desolation sound.  Here, that top layer of warm water piles up, pushing the colder water down.  This makes it an ideal spot for swimming and relaxing.

We would sail out of Vancouver and head north passing fjords and hopefully seeing orcas on the way.  Anchor around one of the island in Desolation Sound, and soak in the views, talk, and swim.

I found one boat that has 4 berths - most in the rental fleets only have 3 berths plus the dining room table that drops down into another double which would also work.  What would this cost?  Well, the boat on the right rents for between $500-$600/day depending on when we go.  July is the start of peak season.  That would be $375 per person for the week.  We'd need food, and a splash of fuel.
